Mentoring Programme

Setting up your own business can seem daunting for graduates and newly qualified behaviourists.

If you are wanting to develop your business as a dog professional, you may be interested in our mentoring programme.

Mentoring Package

Six x 1-hour monthly Zoom sessions on a 1:1 basis, arranged at a mutually convenient time/date.

A summary of each session, along with handouts/homework will be emailed to you.

What Do We Offer?

Our mentoring programme is offered as a six-month package. Each session will be tailored to suit your individual needs and will cover a wide range of topics.

What Will It Cover?

Session 1

Business goals

We will identify your business goals, and help you to understand the market and pricing structures.

Session 3

Running The Business

We will discuss the best ways to work with other professionals, build your reputation, and make wider contacts and networks.

Session 5

Problem Solving

We will review progress towards goals, and problem-solve any difficult areas. At the end of this session you will have a case study to work on.

Session 2

Project Planning

We will cover the administrative side of running a business and managing bookings.

Session 4

Working With Clients and Their Dogs

We will discuss how to set up the first meeting, consider how to triage calls, and manage clients.

Session 6

Case Study Discussion

We will discuss the work you have carried out on the case study, and provide an opportunity for you to discuss any cases you are currently working with. We will also ask you to prepare a written article on any dog related subject.

Introductory Cost

We have a special introductory price of £360.00 for the 6-month mentoring programme

Additional sessions are available at the end of the programme at a cost of £60.

Meet The Mentors

Dale McLelland

Dale McLelland

Dale McLelland specialises in the assessment and treatment of unwanted dog behaviour. She runs her own business, Being Canine in Ayrshire, as a practising canine behaviourist. Dale is an ICAN Certified Animal Behaviourist and Certified Animal Trainer, and an INTODogs Certified Canine Behaviourist and Certified Dog Trainer.

Dale uses non aversive, positive reinforcement dog training methods to provide effective and practical behavioural advice. The statement “train with the brain not with pain” is one that particularly sums up her ethos. Her philosophy is all about you having fun with your dog.

Dale is a course tutor and joint Principal with The ISCP.

Lisa Hird

Lisa Hird is a practising canine behaviourist and runs her own business, Dog Behaviour Clinic in Lincolnshire, working closely with local vets. She is a Trustee of INTODogs, a full member of Pet Professional Guild, and an accredited Fear Free Dog Training Professional.

Lisa believes in relationship centred training and being aware of the individual dog. We must always consider the emotional needs when working with dogs and humans.

Lisa is a course tutor and joint Principal with The ISCP.
