ISCP L4 Diploma in Professional Dog Training

Everyone who has completed all steps in the program will get a badge.

Overview

Effective dog training requires far more than teaching cues or managing behaviour. It requires a deep understanding of how dogs learn, how behaviour develops, and how to guide both dogs and their guardians using ethical, welfare-focused methods. The ISCP Level 4 Diploma in Professional Dog Training provides a comprehensive exploration of modern dog training principles, combining behavioural science, practical application and compassionate training approaches. Through this structured programme, you will develop the knowledge and skills needed to work confidently with dogs and their guardians, applying training strategies that prioritise trust, cooperation and long-term behavioural success. Throughout the course you will explore how dogs learn, how behaviour can be shaped and modified, and how professional trainers can guide guardians in building positive, effective relationships with their dogs. Students are supported throughout their studies by experienced tutors, with learning delivered through teaching materials, guided study and written assessments designed to deepen understanding and encourage critical thinking. Professional Development Pathway: This diploma forms part of a wider professional pathway in ethical canine practice. Upon enrolment, students are eligible for membership with the International Institute for Canine Ethics (IICE). This provides access to professional community support, including ongoing learning opportunities and regular webinars as well as the opportunity to follow their 6-Step ABTC Pathway. Successful completion of the diploma prepares students to take the Practising Dog Training Instructor examination offered by IICE, while also contributing towards the practical evidence required for full professional membership. Study Commitment: Students typically complete the diploma in approximately 200 hours of flexible online study, allowing you to develop professional-level knowledge alongside existing work and personal commitments.
